Mines a craptalk for now.
New artist: I didn't know who i was looking at to begin with, I just had to assume it was Spike. Still, IMO, generally good appearance throughout the book.
Human heavy issue. But you never hear anyone say "robot heavy issue", i know.
Still no hints of direction for the story ( unless i'm not "reading between the lines" !?) apart from where volume 1 left off. I'm starting to want to read more of this style though, presenting the key players (and their thoughts etc...) of the next story arc before dumping it on us. I could take 4 more issues of this and then wave 3 of the ongoing can just explode with action.
I dunno. Can't wait to read everyone elses thoughts on issue#8, Cheers.

Thought it was a bit of a funny issue. It made a change to have a stand alone story throw into the series and some of these dotted throughout would be welcome as long as we get some good multi-parters as well.

Just read it, not bad. True it didn't advance the main story arc much but nice to get a bit of a one shot which stands alone on occasion.
I'm with mindsetoverhaul though in that if I hadn't known already I'd have had to guess it was Spike before it became obvious. We're used to the bots appearance changing but you can tell who is who through the style/bits of alt mode and basic head design etc, but the humans aren't as easy. A character even mentioned his new haircut, good question is if the hair will change back next time or not.
Moaning apart I did like it, only thing I'd go against was Spike saying the Constructicons were dumb, when all the previous TF lore says the exact opposite, that they're very smart and combined they dumb down.

Thats only from his view point though, maybe could have a future story with him facing one of the other constructicons and finding out how wrong he is...

I always thought the Constructicons were as much architects and inventors as they are builders; disciplines you would imagine require above average intelligence. I have a bad habit of flicking through comics before I read them, even though it tends to spoil surprises. This time I turned page after page wondering where the TFs were and growing ever more concerned.
When I actually read it the comic wasn't too bad but a few slip pages setting up forthcoming stories wouldn't have gone amiss. I think the action needs to crank up next issue although I suspect it will be more of a scenesetter, getting the bots into place for a showdown with the Combaticons in issue 10. Will Swindle appear I wonder?
I didn't mind Saltere's art. Really liked his cover, but I'd be happier to have EJ back as the regular artist.

mmm... at only 2 issues of the current run, it'd be poor form for me to say 'inconsistent' already but i too would like to see more EJ. s2h6- I think you're right, I prefer to believe that Spike just got lucky that time. The Constructicons are intelligent and in most G1 lore, it was generally Menasor who had the most trouble keeping it all together, because of the clashing of egos etc... What we can expect from issue#9, at this rate, is anyones guess

hated it.
probably the DUMBEST issue of TF ive read since carwash of doom. in fact i took it as an insult to my intelligence that were expected to belive spike could do what he did in this
theres so much wrong with it story wise that i honestly dont know where to start.
suffice to say another issue like this and im dropping the ongoing as i dont want my cash encouraging more idiocy like this. ive wrote on one of the other boards that what happened here is the equivilant of collosus from the x men getting beaten up by a bouncer.
there are TRANSFORMERS that couldnt do what spike did in this.
at this stage its getting to the point where i just want all this to go away and reboot from scratch. if IDW have any brains theyll give the book to james and nick.

ive wrote on one of the other boards that what happened here is the equivilant of collosus from the x men getting beaten up by a bouncer. ;D In fairness Collosus was warned he'd get a slap if he kept being abusive to the bar staff. It seemed to me that Spike weilded the acid effectively and inflicted a certain amount of pain on Scrapper that would have reduced his fighting effectiveness. Then he lucked out big-time by getting the chance to dump girders on Scrapper. My problem with this issue is not so much David beating Golliath but the absence of Transformers for most of the comic. Good story idea but execution somewhat lacking. Issue 9 needs to pick the pace up.
