This came in yesterday peoples and has been posted out. Lots of copies left. I've still to read mine but first impressions from a flick through, reminds me of the War Within. Most of the story is in flashback form to the early days of the war and its also quite reminiscent of the War For Cybertron games which is coming out. Could be quite good timing for the series.

I read it last night and looks like it could be a good series, bit like Lost at the end where you have no idea whats happening. Thinking about it, it might be Hasbro influence having the War For Cybertron theme, as you said with the game coming it all ties in very nicely:)

I hope they explain how Ironhide's body got to Cybertron. Who do you think the other autobots are he bumps into? I reckon Sunstreaker, and that both of them were repaired by none other than Alpha Trion!!

I think its a given that Sunstreker is going to be there

Just a thought: I wonder if this is the real Ironhide or a clone with his memories? Or maybe the Ironhide who died on Earth is a clone. Sure hope there is a believable explanation to all this!

One thought I had today is it could be possible he is there because of Hot Rod. Maybe Ironhides body was in Ultra Magnus' ship when Hot Rod stole it. Only an idea but could explain how he got there. Funny you saying about clones, we were discussing that possiblity today. Was thinking that he might have been replaced with a clone while all the Autobots were on Cybertron during the AHM arc.

It all reminds me of the Battlestar Galactica remake where Cylons die and then download to a new body on the mothership. It feels like Ironhide has done the same thing except he's woken up on Cybertron. I'm pretty sure Sunstreaker will be back - either revived or barely functioning (especially as the two have got some issues to sort out regarding the AHM betrayal) - and issue 4 has got the swarm in it. This could end up being another AHM sequel.

Well there were a lot of unanswered questions remaining

Which is daft really considering all the AHM sequels and tie ins (Coda and the Spotlights). Perhaps this story can resolve the Swarm problem and bring back Sunstreaker, while also setting the scene for something bigger. I have a feeling there will be some sort of the twist in the tail when they come to explain how Ironhide is alive again. There have been some hints from on high that Ironhide's death in Ongoing #1 was more significant than it seemed.

Do you think when they killed Sunstreaker and Ironhide that they were testing the waters to see how fans reacted? I suppose we have always been used to the fact that in G1 no one really stayed dead. They either came back (Prime and Megs come to mind), or they appeared in an alternate dimension. Maybe we need to realise that they can die, and why should they come back to life, all because they are machines? I know that, because of this, they can be rebuilt, but would they be the same person unless, as you mentioned Steve, they download their brain patterns on a regular basis. Sorry putting too much thought and philosophy into a comic lol!!

Getting downloaded is a pretty cool concept, in the original marvel run Prime got copied onto a floppy disc and then existed in the cyber world of a computer, so i guess thats as close to getting downloaded as i've come across for the transformers. Kinda like Tron. I remember Prime having adventures and battling Scorponok in that story. But they had a problem getting his memory back online initially. Simon Furman said/wrote once (in the prelude to Infiltration i think) that only 2 things could properly kill a transformer! 1) having his spark extinguished and 2) having his brain module destroyed beyond repair. Im not sure if either of these happened to ironhide, but he got blasted in the chest pretty bad. Maybe hes like in a coma or something and experiencing a dream/flashback!? Really enjoyed this opening issue anyway and am intrigued to see where it goes and how it ties in with the ongoing, and im loving the whole 'war within' artwork, tremendous! Not sure if this series will promote the war for cybertron game, as it looks like IDW have their own plans for that! If you haven't seen it yet check out this 16 page bonus comic available with some pre-orders of the game. Are IDW planning another comic launch of their own version of the 'war within' series?1 tformers.com/article.php?sid=13534
