im in the camp thats starting to have a serious problem with the art.
BUT.
I like the possibilities with the storyline. considering whats meant to have happend post AHM it makes you wonder what exactly magnus's role is now.
who does he answer to now that the autobots entire command structure has collapsed? where does he derive his authority from now?
could he be in fact answerable to the cons?
could be fun indeed. if they dont retcon the decepticon victory out . otherwise things just look nuts.

i agree. this story's already got me! and yeh, art, nuh.
also... i gotta reckon - Rodimus, is he being a bit manipulative - or, at least planting thoughts in bots' heads? not maliciously, but i just don't like the tone he's taken since issue 1 - and he's near the top of my list of all time favorite characters, this isnt how i know him to be.

I dunno if its manipulation as such as Jetfire already agrees with Hot Rod's stated aim to get off Earth. It's probably that Hot Rod knows that teaming up with the cons is the best way of achieving their goal and he knows Jetfire will find working with the old enemy unpalatable.

yeh, maybe i'm still getting tummy aches from the some of the art. I just finished re-reading issue #3. Ht Rd only featured in one more page (apart from your preview materials) and i liked him in those panels. as for my "tone" comments; I remember hot rod giving prime a bit of crap in DW's War & Peace too, so it's nothing new really. i suppose he is meant to be hot headed some of the time. i also miss that feeling of admiration hot rod appeared to have for Prime in the original movie and US tv season 3, he would have never given any back chat in those days.

I agree on the story front it's really shapin up nicely. Startin to feel like a true ongoing series. There's lots of excitin possibilities now open and in play. I do also like how it is slowly starting to build on what has come before with magnus arriving as the tyrest enforcer. Speaking of whom, even tho this particular style of art that Don's rolling with isnt doin much for me yet, i have to say magnus is lookin petty badass. I wonder if he'll catch up with swindle again and arrest him for the third time lol. Speaking of swindle im lovin that guy page 15 panel 4 swindle does the fonz lol priceless! As for the art, it is very good, i cant knock Don's skill its technically superb, but its not a style i personally am enjoying for the g1 comic. Its not even so much the bodies or the alt modes ive got a problem with its the faces that really need sorting. E.g. on page 2 we see hot rod with jetfire but they look practically the same. By the way thought i'd mention it here, a little while back alex milne on his deviant art page posted some art using Don's style but with classic g1 faces. Check it out if you've not yet seen it. What do you guys reckon? markerguru.deviantart.com/art/IDW-Autobots-145584277 Im finding some of these human guys are bit irritating tho but i think spike has potential. Interesting to see him being a bit reckless still driving round in breakdown yet somehow desperate to get prime's attention and respect. As for hot rod i think he's always been a bit hot headed and therefore prone to acting rashly due to his impatience, but he's always been quite conscientiouss too. Im feelin his need to get off earth is as much connected to ironhide's death as anything. He's probly riddled with guilt and just tryin to escape it as much as anything. Desperate times desperate measures etc

That i could more than live with. I am still really finding the art hard going and instead of starting to like it I'm actually really starting to hate it. It is starting to get to the point for me personally where it is affecting the the rest of the comic.
