Simon Furman posted the following announcement on his blogSince I gave out the info at the IDW panel at Botcon Cincinnati this AM, here’s the confirmation: my next IDW/Transformers series after the Revelation quartet of Spotlights will be… Maximum Dinobots! Spotlight Grimlock sets the scene and Max Dinos is the payoff, the long awaited, fully fledged modern day debut of the Dinobots (last seen in any functional form in Spotlight Shockwave). But it’s far from a happy reunion, and out to spoil the party further is Scorponok and his Machination/Headmaster army. But that’s not all. For the Grimlock and the Dinobots there’s worse to come. Much worse. If it’s all-out battle action you’re after, look no further! More teases as and when I get to the script (w)raps for the respective issues. Artist: TBC!

Sounds interesting. I've heard that this will be running in tandem with AHM, which is a good thing since I've got some reservations about AHM (especially after seeing one of the panels where the seekers are F15s?!?!). Glad to hear it'll follow on from Spotlight Grimlock, I wonder if it'll follow the same Spotlight type of format, with an issue focussing on each of the individual members, with a fifth issue to bring them back together?

Where did you hear it would be running in tandem with All Hail Megatron? I'm betting it takes place in the year between the end of Devastation and start of All Hail.
Ryall said something about there being 8 comics inbetween so this'll be 4 of them I reckon.

I thought it was between rev and ahm too. i agree on th continuity concern with ahm though. I mentioned already that the seekers were back to f15's in the focus preview.
Will be good to see the dinobots characters fleshed out more. all anyone ever does is focus on grimmy.

Sorry meant that I'd heard it'll be published at the same time as AHM, not running at the same time in the continuity, sorry for the confusion.

Having now finished Revelations I think it's very clear that Max Dino's HAS to cover the ground between that conclusion and the start of AHM - there are just too many continuity queries for that not to be the case.
I'm looking forward to this series and hoping that, in addition to featuring some of my favourite characters, it will also cover the massive leap necessary to move from Revelations to AHM.

Hey Steve a quick question is there multiple covers for Maximum Dinobots and if so would it be possible to order a subscription for both covers?

I am also very much looking forward to this, doesn't feel like I have had my regular fix of transformers since Revelations finished. I hope the leap is covered as there seems to be a lot of discontinuities in AHM which I think need explaining. I reckon there will be two covers as that seems to be the way IDW are doing things (with a couple of exceptions)

I think Maximum Dinobots should not and will not act as a bridge to "All Hail Megatron". I'm pretty sure the gap will eventually be unveiled in AHM itself. I assume thats the whole point of giving a 12 issue run to a new writer, he must've had some "grand plan" that draws it together.
Looking forward to Maximum Dinobots though....

Don't forget Simon is the master at making his stories fit with other people's continuities. It's what he did at Marvel UK for years (Two Megatrons story notwithstanding). I think he'll be steering Max Dinos towards AHM, or in the very least putting the last vestiges of the 'ations stories to rest so a clean slate is achieved. But I also wouldn't put it past him to carve out his own sub-continuity to run alongside AHM, like he did with Marvel UK and with Earthforce etc.
AHM has 12 issues so it has room to tackle the continuity differences, but I'm not sure it will. I'm getting the idea that this is a soft reboot, a jumping on point for new fans if you will, and it probably won't mention previous stories very much.
