Do you like Beast Machines or do you hate it?
Me I thought it was great, it was mature, dark, and the stories were good. I don't think there has been a TF TV show as good since.

Being one of the older fans (ie a kid when G1 originally came out) I never really got into the whole Beast Wars/Machine continuity. I know how Beast Wars fits in now, but what was Beast Machines about? Did the BW characters abandon their beast modes for something else? How did this series evolve?

After the beast wars ends the Maximals return to Cybertron with Megatron, but once they are there they have lost their short time memory and have forgotten about two of the crew members, Rhinox and Silverbolt. They also no longer have their transmetle bodies and are being hunted by transformers called Vehicons. The Maximals retreat but a virus is slowly killing them, they stumble across the Orical (matrix/vectorsigmer/Primus) which gives them new technorganic bodies to combat the Vehicons
I don't want to explain too much because one of the best things about watching it for the first time is the mystery. It all goes a bit preachy in places but it is a good series and I recommend watching it to anyone who hasn't seen it, to make up their own mind. Of course you have to of seen beast wars to get some of the stuff, but I think it is really good.
The reason allot of fans don't like it is because it is very different to the usual transformers stories, of gather energon, destroy the Decepticons/Predicons. Not to mention it is very dark and kind of ends the TF BW/BM universe in a strange way. But it is well written, and is one of the most mature TF series around.

It was good in that it was very grown up for a series based on toys - but it was a bit too dark, plus the existence of organic life on cybertron and the whole BW thing of transformers integrating with organics sort of moved away from the Primus converts metal asteroid thing. The cast of characters suffered from the lack of predacons and the introduction of Obsidian and Striker (Stryker?) was poor - why not Soundwave and Shockwave - two IMPRESSIVE generals from cybertron's past.

I am admittedly not too familiar with all the ins and outs of beast machines but that said I do like some of the ideas it used,
mainly having Megatron in a position of power opressing the Autobots, as this for once shows that a decepticon can triumph if only for a while,
I dont like the whole organic evolution idea, I just dont think it is that appropriate to transformers. that said though it was nice to see that the writers actually tried to do something fresh,
the toy line was reasonably good though, not as good as Robots in Disguise though.

I think most fans generally try to forget that Beast Machines ever happened. Last i heard mobs of enraged transfans plotted to storm Hasbro HQ for unleashing such an atrocity on our beloved world of TFs. As it turned out, the plan was quashed when police were alerted to the plot and the mobs dispersed. He he! ;D Personally, i don't like what BM did to the BW characters. It almost changed all their personalities entirely. Suddenly everyone was dark, brooding, deep, sullen, depressed and contemplative. Normally those are features i don't mind, but i think the writers overdid it. Also the main reason i think most fans despised BM was 'coz of those awful techno-organic modes! Completely undid the transmetals idea from BW and the Maximals just looked freaky. Now we had the Maximals eating all-natural fruits and stuff. I mean to give the series some credit, it did have a very good mature storyline and writing and was philosophical, but all that was ruined with the techno-organic theme.

I am, and always will be a G1 Fan, but i did like Beast Wars and Beast Machines because they had no Frelling kids.
Anyone know if the Janpanese Transformers stories are going to be release in english?
As Japanese stuff seams to change every year, there must be aload of TF missing to us English peeps who can't be bothered to learn Japanese

As for the later series, Armada, Energon and Cybertron are re dubbed from Japanese for the western market, which is why they're so bad.

i love it, i just finished watchin it again the other day but its still not as good as Beast Wars and it would av been good if there had been a sequel to it, some of my fav parts r when u find out who the generals really r, and the final fight as for the toys i got quite a lot, and i still wish they had made a smaller nightscream and some more tv accurate toys would av been nice like some of the japanese Beast Wars Returns

i am always going to be G1 fan at heart but beast machine i did enjoy, granted like quite a few people i didn't like the becoming organic idea but the series itself was good to watch and felt more grown up. Its almost as if they made it grow up fron the G1 series along with those fans who actually was there when G1 started. It was definately a step in the right direction for me as opposed to the series like armada and energon which are aimed at much younger audiances.

I prefer the beast wars and I didn't like the weird personality changes. It was weird that Rattrap didn't even mention Dinobot once or tell his story he was suppose to.

Only just finished watching all of BM for the first time, good ending, but I hated the animation. Smoke looked like solid material, and everyone just kept looking shocked all the time!

The romance between Rattrap and Botannica was kinda of weird.I often wonder what Dinobot would have thought of it or would he have use it as other thing fight for?
