Really enjoyed this, lots of action, but lots of plot too! Can't wait to find out who survives that crash! Although I am a little skeptical Jimmy and Verity could survive the fall let alone the impact.... Great to see Ratbat, and very interesting that he didn't have a Con symbol (also not to sure what he turns into either). My only gripe was I don't really see why Skywatch spent 22 years reconditioning Ravage so they could track Transformers. Surely they could just whack a homing beacon on him (ala the Machination) and just follow him home...?
I get the feeling Jazz and Hardhead are going to buy the farm in this arc, they've not really been given much time to develop (characterwise) and (so far) there's been nothing to suggest they're essential to the overall story. Poor Jazz...... gets to die twice in one year.

What a fantastic start to the series. So much going on and a cliff hanger to boot. I'm delighted to see how this G1 story is going from strength to strength. Escalation stomped all over Infiltration and Devastation may well blow the both of them away.
Ratbat was a surprise. I didn't notice the absence or otherwise of a Decepticon badge. Its fare to say he is a fully signed up member of the cons though. Judging by the design he'll be some sort of CD player.
Maybe Ravage is doing more than sniffing out Transformers, he may well be hunting them! How about that? If Laserbeak, Shockwave, and the Dinos are also reprogrammed that would make one hell of a fighting force at Skywatch's disposal.
I think you're being pessimistic about Jazz biting the farm though. I can't see any evidence of that happening. Even Sunstreaker - who has received the roughest treatment of all - is likely to be back at some point. From the looks of the next issue preview pages he'll be back to the power of 20.
By the way, to everyone reading this whose ordered Dev #1 from OneShallStand.com - your copy was posted on Friday, in a postal district which was not on strike. This is no way guarantees you'll get your copy before the strike ends on Tuesday, because if your local sorting office is striking the mail will pile up, but I thought I'd give you the best chance.

I mentioned Ratbats lack of a badge as I'm hoping it ties in to his role in Megatron Origins as Megatron's original backer, and indicates a certain independence within the Decepticons. That would be interesting if Starscream and pals do decide to stage a little rebellion. I think there was a rumour on the IDW boards that one of next year's Spotlights will be Ratbat, maybe it will all be revealed then? I was only being pessimistic based on what Simon Furman said about Devastation 3 & 4, and based on the solicits and covers/previews that have been released so far we know Ratchet; Prime, and Nightbeat must survive Sixshot (initially!). I thought it might be Jazz as traditionally he's been quite a central character in Simon's stories yet has been very quiet in the IDW stories so far. Hardhead was just wild specualtion I hope they do survive but I get the feeling some Autobots aren't going to make it out of this alive..... I really want to know what Doubledealer is saying in that preview for issue #2, looks like "Please tell me where the Magnificence is, pretty please!" and Hot Rod's having none of it

Has anyone else received this yet? The copies were posted on Friday 5th but that was also when the 4 day strike kicked in.

Just recieved it today Steve.
Good read, though seemed a bit short (probably cos we've had a bit of a wait between issues :-\ ).
I agree it was nice to see Ratbat appear, but kind of weird at the same time as there is no mention of him being 'summoned' to Earth like there was with Sixshot, plus all the other additions to the various Earth-based teams. I also think he'll be a CD-player, judging by the size, the 'back' button and what looked like an open toggle. I also wonder what happened to cause his change from the humanoid form we see in Origin, to the classic Ratbat form.
I wonder how they'll bring 'screamer back into play, seems kind of odd since even when he was amped up on Ore-13 he still got his back-side handed to him, unless of course they are using him as a sacrificial lamb?

All of these questions lend credence in my mind to rumours of a Ratbat Spotlight. It would be the ideal opportunity to explain why he switched to the bat form and came to be on Earth (maybe he's Sixshot's agent?) and spin some more threads no doubt.

Mine finally arrived yesterday. No thanks to the postman who, despite the "Do Not Bend" cardboard reinforced envelope that Steve packaged it in, folded it in half to get it through the letterbox. Wanker. Damn good read, really enjoyed it actually. Thought it was interesting to see Sixshot's reservations about going all out just yet... and also the comparison between Prime and Megatron through Su's art. Curious.

Yeah the postman used to so that to me all the time when I was in Brum, and they want a payrise, they should learn to read first.

I have to be fair my postie is pretty good. I am usually out so he will leave them in my blue paper wheelie bin and post a note through the door. I usually get comics delivered to my Grandma's as she is always in only problem is she lives just over 100 miles away. Always a pleasure to go back though as I am never stuck for something to read.
Must be mega annoying when the postie folds your comics though. I like mine in absolutely pristine condition after I read them half a dozen times they get bagged borded and stored ;D

Recieved mine on Monday Steve, thanks. I'm glad to see Sideswipe coming to Earth. I can see him having a crisis, having to be set on his brother. I am liking the new image of prime where he takes a step back and lets Prowl run the more day to day things. Gives Prime that aura that I think he was lacking in the Marvel run.

Got mine the other day. Its cool. Did anyone notice Hardhead had changed his look a bit, looks like he's reformatted. But the question is into what? Couldnt see any tracks, but could see some tyres... Hmm.
Good point about Ratbat, the fact that he's there and Soundwave hasnt made his reappearance yet.
Its all about to proverbally hit the fan! Or a small American town at a very high speed. Hee hee.
